The Horses Monument
This bronze sculpture was created by Juan José Oliveira and stands at the Plaza de España. It represents a group of five horses climbing up a waterfall. The whole work weighs 40 tonnes and is 18 metres high. At the base there is a fountain which measures 10m in diameter.
It is a tribute to the wild horses that once inhabited the Monte de O Castro (now the Castro Park) and which can still be seen in some of the hills around Vigo.
