This monument was unveiled on 5th August 1967. It is a tribute to the well-known poet Martín Codax. It is composed of a stone mounted in a fountain which represents the sea, one of the poet’s themes. On the bronze plaque there is an inscription which reads: "From the City of Vigo to its poet Martín Codax, troubadour and jester of the 18th century" ("La ciudad de Vigo a su cantor Martín Códax, trovador y juglar del siglo XIII").
