Monument to Jules Verne
This statue was unveiled on the 17th of October 2005 to mark the centenary of the death of French writer Jules Verne. It was cast in bronze by local Vigo artist José Molares and donated to the city by the Businesswomen’s Association of Pontevedra Province.
It is a tribute to Jules Verne from the City of Vigo which is mentioned in his book "20.000 Leagues Under the Sea". It shows Verne sitting on the tentacles of a sea monster or giant squid.
