No plans to go anywhere at this time of year? Pack your bags and come to Vigo!
Autumn is here and with it come some of the best times of the year for enjoying Vigo’s parks and woodlands. The light is softer and the leaves are falling from the trees to create a beautiful multicolour carpet that is irresistible to photography lovers.
If sport is your thing, then the city is surrounded by a green belt of woodland parks that make it the perfect place for hiking and bike rides. You will be amazed by the views of the Bay of Vigo from the tops of our hills. You will also find springs, rivers, reservoirs, bird-watching sites… Don’t forget to take a basket with you because you’ll be able to fill it with two of the stars of our autumn produce: mushrooms and sweet chestnuts.
Speaking of chestnuts… Have you ever been to a Magosto? You can’t leave Galicia without meeting up with family and/or friends around the bonfire to eat delicious roast chestnuts. Remember to make a toast with a glass of D.O. Rias Baixas wine, or a shot of one of our traditional spirits.
If you want even more of a party, make a date to spend the night of the 31st October in Vigo’s historic old town. It’s the night of Samaín, the Celtic festival of the dead. Ah! And don’t forget to dress up as a zombie, a Galician Meiga witch or vampire. You wouldn’t want the spirits that fly around freely that night to recognise you and take you away with them…
Autumn in Vigo is waiting for you, charged with emotion. Don’t miss it!
