Galician mussels come from the bays and inlets of Ares-Sada, Arousa, Pontevedra, Muros-Noia and Vigo. They are grown using rafts and are found on sale in bags correctly labelled by the Quality Assurance Board (which governs the Denominación de Origen). They may be used for a wide variety of recipes or simply boiled. It is a product that is simple to prepare and has high nutritional value.
