The CAT is part of the Vigo City Heritage Service and was established in 1999 under the European Union URBAN program. It aims to coordinate, plan and organize activities with a view to promoting and protecting traditional Galician handicrafts.
The centre focuses on seven traditional trades i.e. blacksmiths, weavers, tanners, stone masons, carpenters, potters and basket weavers.
The CAT aspires to preserve the local heritage, particularly these traditional crafts by researching, providing information and distributing information.
It is located in the Old Quarter and through its work hopes to contribute to the redevelopment of this historic part of the city by promoting trades and crafts in the area.
The CAT also organizes educational activities and course for schoolchildren and the general public.
