This building was built in 1891 by Francisco Solleiro Negrete and designed by architect Manuel Felipe Quintana. It has two facades and is modern in style. It was restored in 1990 when it was converted into the Caixa Galicia Savings Bank Building.
One of the objectives of the Caixa Galicia Savings Bank is to support the improvement of the quality of life in the city. It achieves this by promoting social involvement, volunteer work, organizations and by bringing new technology to society as a whole. It contributes to the education and integration of children and young people; it is involved in international solidarity and environmental protection. It also works in collaboration with a great number of public and non-profit making bodies on social projects. Apart from this, it organizes activities to promote culture of all forms, research, science, art and personal development.
Throughout Galicia, in eleven towns and cities in all tour provinces Caixa Galicia runs 25 permanent centres that organize a wide range of social and cultural activities. Among these are day centres for the elderly, children’s and youth clubs, multiuse buildings, conference and exhibition halls, libraries, and technology centres.
