Concerts and Festivals

As regards music Vigo offers a wide variety of events. The amphitheatre in Castrelos Park is an excellent outdoor arena and the Caixanova Cultural Centre designed by Antonio Palacios is the main concert hall and theatre. There is also a Conservatory and several night-time venues that organize jazz, pop and rock concerts.

Vigo International Jazz Festival - Imaxina Sons

The Vigo International Jazz Festival - Imaxina Sons - was originally organized in order to fill the demand that exists here for jazz music. It also aims to present new trends in jazz from the rest of Europe and to reflect the current situation of jazz in Galicia, and the rest of Spain.

Imaxina sons reflects current jazz trends here in Galicia and in Spain and Europe. The festival has brought artists like the Gianlui Trovesi Octet or the latest work by Daniel Humair, Baby Boom, to Spain for the first time. Spanish artists are also represented like Ramón López with "Eleven Drums Songs" and the tribute to Agustí Fernández. One must not forget what was a novelty for many; the jazz cello played by Vicent Courtois’, who frequently works with Louis Sclavis.

Concerts usually take place in the Theatre-Concert Hall in the Centro Cultural Caixanova, the Martín Codax Hall in the Conservatory, in the Town Hall, at the Verbum Jazz Café, Manteca Jazz Club, Praza da Estrela square, Montero Ríos Pedestrian Street, Pub Quomo and the Museum of Contemporary Art Hall.
