River Lagares (Castrelos) Bank Walk
This path crosses the whole city from A Raposeira (near the end of Avenida de Madrid) to the beach at Samil and follows the river Lagares. The distance is 8.3km and we can see the contrast between the most rural and urban sides of Vigo. Along the way we can see groups of ducks, geese, and with luck maybe even herons. Other things to look out for are the local plant-life, medieval bridges and buildings typical of Galician popular architecture.
The path is quite flat and can be done on foot or by bicycle. Along the way there are several drinking fountains and benches to rest at. The path passes through Castrelos Park (with the Quiñones de León House Museum and English and French-style gardens) and then goes towards Balaídos Football Stadium. It ends at Foz beach, just beside Samil Beach where the river Lagares meets the sea.
