Once upon a time ...

there is a magical place where, at Christmastime, the trees, the snowmen and the story books are lit up and grow giant-sized so that everybody starts to smile when they see them.

The children can slide on the sledge in the Christmas village, climb on the back of the Royal Camel or take a ride on the Big Wheel. And if they want they can also call at Santa’s house to tell him in person how good they have been …

Every day, at 6:30 p.m., a secret button switches on the lights and decorations in this place, so that the people can go for an evening stroll and take all the photos they wish, surrounded by music and colours.

Anyone who is feeling tired or is in a bit of a rush can climb on board the “Xmas Train” which, when it gets dark, goes around the city so that the passengers can enjoy the festive lights quickly and comfortably.

Groups of friends love to visit the ice-skating rink. It is also great fun to go shopping in the stores and markets to find Secret Santa gifts or to help the elves with their Christmas errands …

On the last night of the year, people gather in their homes or in the “Plaza de America” to eat 12 grapes as the bells chime midnight. Afterwards they hug and kiss each other and then go out to have fun until dawn. Those with a sweet tooth won’t go to bed before having a traditional breakfast of hot chocolate and “churros”.

But the best thing of all is something that might happen at any moment and in any place: people suddenly start dancing, Santas on motorbikes, choirs singing carols or Their Majesties the Three Kings of Orient passing by in their carriages and handing out sweets.

“How do I get to this extraordinary place?” you are asking yourselves.

Very easily: Close your eyes, wish for it with all your might and … come to Vigo.

Here, you don’t tell your Christmas tale, you live it!
