Traditional festivals

If you want to attend a popular festival in Vigo it’ll be difficult to choose; we have traditional and religious celebrations in every neighbourhood and during all seasons. If you're not from a coastal area, we recommend our maritime celebrations, like the Virgin of Carmen festival in July. On this spectacular celebration of devotion and tradition, the figure of the Virgin is carried by sailors on their boats along the coast. And if you love fireworks, don’t miss the Bouzas festivities; they’re the most famous in southern Galicia.

Furthermore, Vigo has centenary celebrations like the Festa dos Maios and two other events you can’t miss: Vigo’s Great Week in August and La Reconquista, which takes Vigo’s Old Town back to 1809 for several days.
