Santa Baia

A beachside pilgrimage in Santa Baia

The Santa Baia festivities are an essential summer celebration in Vigo. We’re sure you’ll have a hard time deciding which festival to attend... we have dozens! But one of the liveliest is held in Alcabre in July, usually the second weekend of the month. Although in honour of Santa Eulalia and St. Antón, they’re popularly known as the Santa Baia festivities.

Even though it’s very close to the centre of Vigo, you’ll experience an authentic Galician celebration, with attractions and orchestras, and that popular, small town feeling, so typical of the neighbourhoods of the city.

Tips and recommendations:

Alcabre is a coastal parish with some of Vigo’s best beaches, where you can combine a day at the beach and sightseeing with an unforgettable evening. You can start with dinner: tasting the delicious products of the Vigo estuary, followed by dancing in the festival. It’s right next to Bouzas, another emblematic neighbourhood and the perfect place to stroll at ease if you like fishing villages.
