Take advantage of your visit to discover Vigo’s most important monuments. The city’s history is centuries old, but interestingly enough, the locals favourite monuments are the most modern: El Sireno (The Merman) and the monument to Jules Verne. Both statues coexist with much larger decorative elements like the Puerta del Atlántico (Gateway to the Atlantic), and others that tell part of Vigo’s history, like La Farola (The Streetlight). If you pay attention, you’ll notice that Vigo’s monuments are almost all linked to the sea.
